Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How close are your cabins/cottages to the lake?
A. Our entire property is right on Canim Lake. All of the current cottages are within an easy stroll of the lakeshore. As we expand, we will be featuring some cottages on Eagle Creek, which also affords water access to Canim Lake. But, everything is close to the lake.

Q. Do you have a beach and/or swimming area?
A. Yes and No. We don't have a sandy beach as we are located in a "sensitive" area and are not allowed to modify the beautiful, natural lakeshore. We're located at the mouth of Eagle Creek, which is a spawning stream for both Rainbow Trout and Kokanee. Our marina does allow one to swim, of course, but most people prefer to use the government beach which is located just down the road from us.

Q. Do you have a playground for children?
A. No. Of course children are always welcome at Minac, but our facilities are set up for people somewhat beyond the playground age. Adults and teens would find our facilities (such as our marina) ideal for them.

Q. Do you allow pets?
A. Yes of course, but we have only 1 cottage designated as the 'pet cabin'. It's our 2 bedroom Log Cabin.

Q. Do you have a boat launch?
A. No. Once again, we're not allowed to modify the natural lakeshore so we cannot have our own boat launch. But, there is a fully functional public launch just down the road from us, and our guests generally launch there and moor at our marina.

Q. Is your resort "out of the way"?
A. Yes and No. It is in a beautiful, naturally forested area right on Canim Lake at the mouth of Eagle Creek. Nature is everywhere! But, the road to Minac is paved all the way from virtually anywhere. And, when you turn off the paved highway into our property, you are on level ground for the 300 meters to our office. In other words, we're in a "Civilized Wilderness".

Q. What do I have to bring with me for the cabin/cottage?
A. Yourself, personal items, and food/drink. We supply all the basic essentials, including towels, linens, dishes, cutlery, soaps, and bathroom tissue. Each cottage has its own charcoal BBQ, and we do sell charcoal at our office.

Q. What makes your area worth visiting?
A. Excellent question. There are many reasons, but the best ones we can think of is that it is uncrowded, full of artisans and their very interesting productions, rich in a pioneer heritage, full of natural beauty, and ripe with recreational activities all year long. It is also easy to get to, and definitely is not on everyone's list of "must see" places...that's what makes it uncrowded and appealing. It's an incredible combination of attractive features that we think is unequalled anywhere.

Q. Why should we consider Minac for a holiday?
A. If you're looking for above average comfort in accommodations at competitive prices, and you want to enjoy fresh air, nature, and one of the most beautiful lakes you'll ever see, you should be considering Minac. We like to provide the right touches (such as modern, sterilized drinking water) while maintaining that important "get-away-from-it-all" feeling. That's why our motto is "Nothing Between You & Nature".
