Do You Really Need A Website?

If you're in a business selling products or services to the public, you could safely assume that yes, you probably do need to consider having a presence on the Internet. That is making the assumption that you're in it for the long haul and that you'd like to hang on to your existing customers and get some new ones. In other words, if you want to be a player in today's competitive marketplace, a web presence is almost as basic as having a telephone!

How Do You Do It?

There are many ways to create a website...you can have someone do it for you or you can do it yourself. No matter how it happens, you will end up with a web presence. The question is, will it do what you want it to do for your business? Keeping in mind that a website is an advertising tool (in almost all cases), you might want to ask yourself if you or the person you hired is qualified for the job. Although the online advertising game is virtually unregulated, you should look at it as a specialist job...kind of like hiring a skilled plumber or electrician when you want a job done right.

It Can Be Simple But It Needs To Work!

You can put up a site that lists who you are, what you do, and how to get in touch with you, and then sit back and hope that something happens. That can work, if you are really lucky. But luck never played much of a role in anything, and business is no exception. You might see better results if you leave this job to the experts. When you do choose an expert, make sure they know what they're doing, in terms of advertising and promotion. If they overwhelm you with "techno-speak" you might be talking to the wrong one. You should always remember that your business depends on customers, and a good understanding of their needs is critical if you want to reach out to them.
